When it comes to structuring a precision department, I think most dealers would agree that there’s no singular way to do it. Scope, resources, objectives and demand all factor into a dealership’s development of its precision farming business.
An emerging piece of the organizational puzzle for a dealership’s precision business is agronomic service. Still a niche service area for many dealers, there is growing momentum as they try to decrease reliance on hardware and create more sustainable revenue sources.
While there are multiple ways to deliver agronomic services, we found that about 20% of the dealers who responded to the 2016 Precision Farming Dealer benchmark study, utilize a staff agronomist.
In today’s Precision Farming Dealer podcast, brought to you by Farmers Edge, Devin details the dealership’s development, execution and analysis of its agronomic services platform, utilizing an in-house agronomist.
