Roundtable Insights: Top Precision Revenue Opportunities
Dealers gathered for a 60-minute roundtable discussion — at the 2025 Precision Farming Dealer Summit — to share some of their top precision revenue opportunities. Travis Alhorn of Ag Express Electronics served as roundtable moderator. Afterwards, he shared the following takeaways, suggestions and insights gleaned from the discussion.
- These precision revenue opportunities should assist the sales department in selling iron. A lot of these precision products go hand-in-hand with some of the iron they’re selling and can make it more attractive to the customers.
- Drones are one of the fastest growing segments in application and agriculture. There are massive revenue opportunities with sales and repair. It can also be its own division within the dealership. Drones dominated the roundtable because there’s a pretty good margin in those, they’re relatively easy for the customer to use and they cover a wide base of customers.
- Autonomy was one of the top subjects discussed at every farm show and conference 5 years ago. That’s started to stall. There’s more of a focus on semi-autonomous technology now. You look at a combine that can set itself, or some of the automation that’s built into planters and seeders now. That’s an opportunity to sell iron because without some of this technology, that piece of equipment couldn’t compete with others on the market.
- The last thing we talked about was emerging AI technology. We used See & Spray as an example and sprayers that can identify different weeds as they move through the field. Will we start to see this type of technology implemented into other equipment like combines and planters? We’re just now seeing the infancy of AI technology.
