Question: What online sales methods do precision farming specialists at your dealership utilize, and how have these helped manage aging or used inventory?
Answers: “At our dealership, most of the precision farming sales are conducted in person by the precision farming division. At the moment, only a very small portion of sales are conducted online, mostly through eBay or Craigslist. The items we sell online are often obsolete and they don’t really have any market among our regular customers.
“We are in the process of rebuilding the company’s Website where there will be a precision farming page, which will be used as online store and blog. Personally, I think that most of the precision farming sales will be still conducted in person because the interaction with the customer is a key component in the buying decision.
“I look at the Web more as a marketing tool than a marketplace. We limit aged or used inventory by avoiding overstocking the precision farming division with new parts that we know do not move frequently, and by implementing a policy which excludes the option to trade in used precision farming technology.”
