On Sept. 17, several Bane-Welker representatives showed their support for ag education and attended the Ivy Tech Evening at the Farm event. Bane-Welker was a title sponsor for the event, which was held at the Bane Agriculture Technology Center on the Lafayette, Ind. campus.

According to a report from Farmers' Advance, one of Bane-Welker's own was awarded a scholarship from Farm Credit Mid America during the event. Ronnie Norton is the son of Lisa and Mike Hoesman. Lisa works at Bane-Welker in Terre Haute, Ind. Ronnie is currently attending Ivy Tech in Terre Haute and also works part time at the Bane-Welker Terre Haute location.

"The Bane family donated funds in 2013 to build a barn/shop to be used for the Agricultural program at the Lafayette Ivy Tech campus. The Bane Agriculture Technology Center building, which was dedicated and named in Bane's honor, now serves as the site for many ag courses including the precision ag course. Bane-Welker Equipment Precision Farming Specialists assist in training the instructor for the Ivy Tech Precision Ag course. In fact, the instructor spent the summer of 2014 shadowing and learning from three of Bane-Welker's AFS specialists. In addition to monetary donations, Bane-Welker has also donated materials to the program.

"Bane-Welker's Precision Farming Specialist from the Terre Haute location, Justin McKain, is also involved with the Ag program at the Terre Haute campus. Justin currently teaches the Precision Farming Technology course, serves on the Advisory Board, and served on the development committee for the new Precision Agriculture Equipment Technology Program."
