Accessible 24/7 from a computer, the new irrigation.education allows growers to research and understand irrigation and irrigation products before making a purchase.
It also provides a place to go after an equipment purchase for specific instructions, such as how to operate a control panel and how to use remote monitoring and control software.
Creating a free account at irrigation.education gives users access to an online library of resources. Growers new to irrigation can learn about theory and practice, while seasoned irrigators can keep up-to-date on new technology and new products. This innovative site houses an ever-increasing collection of short, online courses designed specifically to provide a better understanding of all things irrigation.
Industry experts collaborated to create the informative and interactive online training on topics ranging from basic center pivot operation and sprinkler selection to Variable Rate Irrigation (VRI) and GPS guidance. The courses empower users to make informed irrigation decisions, according to Patrick Angel, director of learning for irrigation.education.
“irrigation.education helps growers understand the why,” Angel said. “Why use VRI? Why is knowledge about different soil types important? It helps growers understand the questions that need answers.”
Aaron Zimmerman a grower and experienced irrigator from Pierce, Neb., has completed several irrigation.education courses.
“I think irrigation.education will be especially useful for new growers and non-irrigators thinking about moving to irrigation,” Zimmerman said. “They can use the site to explore features like VRI and remote monitoring, and to get an idea of what exactly they’re looking for in a machine.”
With 19 learning courses currently available and new courses being continuously added, irrigation.education is a hub of credible farm irrigation information and resources.
“Education and training equal expertise,” Angel said. “We want to give growers the knowledge they need to make the best decisions for their farming operations. We want to become the go-to place for growers to become experts in irrigation.”
