Trimble announced it is acquiring privately-held PocketMobile, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The sale will accelerate Trimble's development in the high-growth field-to-office mobility market. Financial terms were not disclosed.

PocketMobile provides enterprise mobile workforce solutions for international customers in the areas of postal service and logistics, security and field service. By blending these two companies, Trimble expects to become more competitive in the platform-based mobile workforce solution marketplace as technology shifts to smart phones, new mobile operating systems, and the requirement to quickly introduce new services.

"Field-to-office mobility has become one of the most strategically important components of an organization's operational structure with a mobile workforce," said John Cameron, general manager of Trimble's Field Service Management Division.

"Trimble's focus is to transform the workplace of the future by providing mobility tools to businesses to drive agility, efficiency and insight across the organizations' operations,” he said. “PocketMobile's strong position and proven expertise in mobile enterprise solutions can further expand our reach into new verticals and accelerate our development in the field-to-office mobility market."

PocketMobile will be reported as part of Trimble's Mobile Solutions segment.
