SST Software continues to enhance its Sirrus application for agronomists and ag retailers with additional free and premium features. Sirrus is an iPad app that is used primarily for in-field agronomy services, such as soil sampling, scouting, and reporting.
Though the core features of Sirrus remain free, SST recently added premium features that are accessible with a monthly subscription. Drew McMahon, Product Manager for Sirrus, states, “The idea behind Sirrus Premium was to offer a set of luxury components that would enhance the workflow of agronomic activities while in the field.”
Many sales agronomists have to make last minute adjustments to product recommendations, which often means returning to the office in order to reprocess data or having to contact the company GIS technician and wait for the edits to be processed. Sirrus Premium allows agronomists to save time with the ability to edit product recommendations on the spot and then send the new recommendations directly to the applicator. Other premium features include access to product labels, Safety Data Sheets and additional reports.
Although the iPad version of Sirrus is a tool for ag service providers, agronomists utilizing Sirrus have received a pleasant surprise, that is, it’s actually the farmers who seem to appreciate the premium features the most. “Ag service providers have told us that Sirrus Premium has helped them gain thousands of more acres,”explains McMahon.
One ag service provider related the story of how he sat down at a table with two farmers and edited their product recommendations on the spot according to new budget constraints. The growers commented that normally it would have taken a few back and forth visits with their current retail outlet to make such changes.
“Sirrus Premium helped me gain another 2,000 acres of business,” said the agronomist.
Other feedback related a story of an agronomist making adjustments with Sirrus while working with his client during harvest. The agronomist shared, “As we were making adjustments, the farmer looked at what I was doing with Sirrus on the iPad and then me and said, ‘You are at least five years ahead of your competition.’”
“SST’s focus is to strengthen the relationship between growers and their trusted ag service providers,” says McMahon. “We are extremely pleased with how the Sirrus app has developed and the reception it has received from the industry. Currently, we are designing an iPhone version of Sirrus that will add a new level of depth to the grower-service provider relationship.”
Recently, SST added additional features to the free version of Sirrus, such as support for GPS cables with RTK compatibility, soil sampling enhancements, fertility reports, and additional classification types.
