Back to Essential Guide to Precision Farming Tools
AFS AccuControl
Tech Specs: The AFS AccuControl crop input control system is a variable-rate and section control system that utilizes the AFS Pro 700 display. This allows for a single display solution when connecting a Case IH tractor to a non-Case IH implement such as sprayers, strip-till applicators, NH3 applicators and up to 48 row planters. The system can also be used with the Case IH Nutri-Placer and manages a wide variety of applications such as seed monitoring and mapping, auto-section control, variable-rate control and more.
WOW Factor: Allows users to add precision farming functionality to existing implements resulting in all the benefits of precision farming at a fraction of the cost of a new implement.
TurboDrop
Tech Specs: GreenLeaf Technologies’ TurboDrop variable-rate hose barb is a variable-rate fertilizer injector, designed to provide a wider flow range for variable-rate applications or wide speed changes. Between 20 and 140 psi, a 3-4 times flow rate change is possible. The system is designed for use on liquid nitrogen applicators to inject or dribble fertilizer at either a constant or a variable-rate across the field.
WOW Factor: Gives users the hardware (nozzle) that allows them to take advantage of the variable-rate technology on the market. The system allows the farmer to stay on the tractor instead of getting off and on multiple times to change nozzles and also allows for multiple application rates on the go.
vDrive
Tech Specs: The system combines planter drive and swath control, with no chain and cable maintenance. No more lubing chains, sprockets and drives and no more worrying about hydraulics. Operators can clean up their planter with a drive on every row. Precision Planting’s vDrive has superior population control and the integrated controller in the motor allows for sub-second execution of the correct population, row-by-row and around curves.
Compatibility Index: Available Factory Installed
WOW Factor: A custom planter on each row. Whatever operators need and ask of that row happens. Farmers have the capabilities to do their best planting, plus a meter and drive setup that has staying power for the seasons ahead. Mechanical drive systems have a lot of moving parts and require maintenance and costly upkeep. The unit is self-contained and virtually maintenance free.
VRI Individual Sprinkler
Tech Specs: The new Valley variable-rate irrigation individual sprinkler (VRI iS) for center pivots gives growers the ability to more precisely match water application to specific areas of their fields. Growers can change application rates or simply turn off individual sprinklers over non-irrigated areas, allowing them to fine tune water application more accurately than in a zoned area. The controls can also be used to accurately irrigate all field areas around odd-shaped, non-irrigated areas such as ditches or dairy paddocks and is ideal for growing multiple crops under one machine, or growing the same crop with staggered planting dates for different harvest dates. GPS position precisely controls the individual sprinklers, applying water to specific areas within a field. Applying water depths to match soil types prevents overwatering and runoff in areas with heavier soils. The system is compatible with all sprinkler types and drop pipe materials.
Compatibility Index: Available Factory Installed
WOW Factor: Increases water application accuracy to match various soil types, field topography and non-irrigated areas. The system allows growers to fine tune the application efficiency of water and chemicals, which will maximize crop yields and minimize input costs for water and chemicals.
