Sentera introduced its Double 4K sensor, bringing a small, fully-customizable twin-imager sensor to the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry. The high-throughput Double 4K sensor is designed for use in harsh environments, with configuration options tailored for use in precision agriculture and infrastructure inspection applications. Both cameras feature Sony focal plane arrays and are fully-customizable, capable of capturing high-megapixel color stills, near-infrared (NIR) and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data, and 4K video.
For agriculture applications, a Double 4K allows for production of both NDVI and RGB imagery in a single flight. In inspection applications, the cameras may be configured with narrow and wide field-of-view lenses, eliminating the use of mechanically-complex optical zoom systems that can be damaged in high shock, vibration or dust environments.
“We are excited to bring the sophisticated, versatile and easy to use Double 4K sensor to our industry partners,” said Eric Taipale, Sentera CEO. “The Double 4K provides a true commercial-grade solution for applications requiring outstanding image quality and precise metadata synchronization.”
The small, light Double 4K sensor is the next generation of the proven Sentera Double Sensor. The Double 4K fits the GoPro HERO 4 footprint and is universally compatible with any new or existing fixed-wing or quad-rotor UAV.
The Double 4K is available for OEM integration or fully-integrated with a quick-release gimbaled payload designed for the Lockheed Martin Indago 2 UAV. The Indago solution brings 4K video and 12MP still capture capability to the platform, further distinguishing the Indago as the platform of choice for long-endurance, high-performance commercial applications.
The Sentera Double 4K sensor exports image and video data in standard formats in real-time via the aircraft datalink, an interval WiFi or a wired Ethernet connection. Like all Sentera imagers, the Double 4K imagery integrates seamlessly with Sentera’s AgVault and OnTop software platforms, allowing users to gather, organize, process and share collected imagery.
The Double 4K is offered at $2,499 and will be featured at AUVSI 2016 on the Indago 2 UAV in the Lockheed Martin booth #1261. Visit sentera.com/sensors to learn more about the product.
