Well, we all know that it’s been a rollercoaster year for many companies in the agricultural industry with ongoing fluctuation in the commodities market.
Manufacturers of precision farming technology are among those that have navigated the evolving market along with their dealers.
Earlier this year, results of the 2016 Precision Farming Dealer benchmark study revealed that only about 40%of respondents forecasted short-term growth in their precision farming business, the lowest percentage in 3 years.
But there is optimism as well that the market will begin to rebound — at least modestly — with 30% of dealers forecasting revenue growth of 2-7% in 2016 — the highest percentage ever.
Cautious optimism was a prevailing tone at this year’s Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, where I had the opportunity to speak with several precision farming companies about the current state of the precision ag industry and how they see the market evolving in the coming months and years.
In today’s Precision Farming Dealer podcast, brought to you by Farmers Edge, we share excerpts from company conversations conducted at this year’s Farm Progress Show, taking the temperature of the precision farming industry.
