HARLAN, Iowa, — CompTIA, the world’s leading technology association, announced that Adam Gittins, General Manager for HTS Ag has joined its Drone Advisory Council.

Gittins brings 17 years of experience in precision agriculture, as well as several years in the drone world, including practical first-hand usage of drones in his own farm operation. As general manager for HTS Ag, Gittins, a two-time speaker at the Precision Farming Dealer Summit, is responsible for finding and integrating emerging technologies with customers across the Midwest, helping them realize a return on their investment.

“With the breadth of his experience in our industry, Adam is a strong addition to our Drone Advisory Council,” said Annette Taber, CompTIA’s vice president for industry outreach. “His insights into the business of technology – how it is developed, marketed, purchased and deployed – will help guide the actions we take as an advisory council, an association and an industry.”

The CompTIA Drone Advisory Council works with all facets of the drone ecosystem, exploring new routes to market for this thriving industry. Executives from hardware manufacturers, video and component manufacturers, mapping software, platform providers, insurance companies, experts in FAA regulations and policies, drone pilots and instructors, lawyers, and flight service providers are represented on the council.

They will work with other UAV trade associations to create and publish industry best practice standards on data requirements and increased professionalism for commercial drone pilots to foster greater adoption and expansion of drone technologies.

In addition to leading the HTS Ag team, Gittins continues to run his family farm in southwest Iowa, providing him a deep understanding of the agriculture industry and the challenges that farmers face in their operations.
