According to the most recent USDA crop progress report, some 79% of corn crops were reported silking as of the week ended July 25, in line with the 79% reported silking in the same week last year. The 5-year average for corn silking in the week was 73%
Some 18% of corn crops were reported in the dough stage, below the 20% of corn crops in the dough stage last year and above the 17% 5-year average.
Around 49% of corn crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 15% in "excellent" condition and 26% in "fair condition."
The report stated 76% of soybeans were blooming in the same week, above the 74% reported blooming in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybean blooming in this week was 71%.
Some 42% of soybeans were reportedly setting pods, above the 40% reported setting pods in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybeans setting pods in this week was 36%.
Some 47% of soybean crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 11% in "excellent" condition and 30% in "fair condition."
