This summer will feature one last farm equipment show before the rush of the incoming harvest.

The 60th Annual Farm Progress Show, the nation’s largest outdoor farm event, will be held August 27-29 in Decatur, Ill. The 3-day show will bring together manufacturers, retailers and farmers to interact and learn about the latest farm equipment technologies.

Though broad in scope, the Farm Progress Show will also highlight the latest developments in precision agriculture. When asked about its presence at the show, events manager Matt Jungmann said, “We’ll have all the major precision ag manufacturers there, and then some.”

Jungmann says there will be plenty of new and exciting technology on display. Manufacturers often choose to unveil their latest innovations at the show because of the event’s history.

“Since precision farming was around, new unveilings have occurred here,” he says. “When the new products come out, they’re shown here first, primarily because our show attracts the largest gathering of their customers.”

Highlights will include side-by-side field demonstrations of combines, tillage tools and precision GPS equipment. Farm Progress boasts over 75 acres of exhibit fields and 600 exhibitors and its expanded size is a key addition this year.

“We’ve expanded the size by 10% in terms of the physical footprint,” says Jungmann. “We’ve given exhibitors more space by adding another row to the event site. The show grows every time. This is our fifth Decatur, Ill., show and it’s the biggest one yet.”
