6 Technologies Farmers Will Invest in By 2027

The rise of the Internet of Things allows farmers to capture and integrate layers of their operations, providing new ways of interacting with financial and farming information. As farmers look for higher production and profitability, agriculture consulting firm KCoe Isom predicts farmers will invest in farm management software, precision farming tools, autonomous equipment, remote crop and herd monitoring, carbon sequestration and enhanced crop traceability technologies over the next 5 years.

Improving Rural Connectivity Could Revolutionize Precision Agriculture

Precision ag equipment is already capable of analyzing and processing tons of data, and bringing faster, more reliable broadband to rural America will likely advance the adoption of precision technology. “When you talk about data, not every producer needs it today, but the infrastructure will help ensure that as technology advances, that producer doesn’t get left behind,” says Iowa State University’s Matt Darr in this video.

Efficiency, Cost Savings, Recruitment All Benefits of Nebraska Coop Owning an OMNiPOWER

The Frenchman Valley Farmers Cooperative recently purchased a Raven OMNiPOWER dry spreader and has been using the driverless machine to cover up to 300 acres per day across Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming. Ben Sauder, vice president of agronomy at the Frenchman Valley Farmers Cooperative, explains the benefits of owning an OMNiPOWER and his vision for the machine’s future in this article from CropLife.

The OMNiPOWER spreader is controlled by a single operator, who sends units on autonomous missions via a tablet connected to a cellular network.

Use it to give your customers an overview of how implement guidance can provide a more profitable and exact-path operation in their fields.

Anyone Else Feeling This Way During #plant22?

One of our editors did a ridealong with Pete Kopriva, a precision farming specialist at Iowa Case IH dealer J.J. Nichting, last week. Kopriva predicted it would be a slower day as corn planting was mostly finished, but that “slower” day still resulted in dozens of phone calls from customers and coworkers looking for help with everything from GPS signals to planter problems. Maybe next week it will *actually* slow down?
