New Report Analyzes Precision Ag Adoption Rates on U.S. Farms

The USDA released a new report, Precision Agriculture in the Digital Era: Recent Adoption on U.S. Farms, highlighting precision ag adoption trends between 1996 and 2019, with a focus on changes after 2016. Among the key takeaways from the 48-page report — “The use of auto-steer and guidance systems now occurs on well over 50 percent of U.S. acreages planted to corn, soybeans, winter wheat, cotton, rice, and sorghum — up from roughly 10 percent of planted acres (or fewer) in the early 2000s.”

Precision Ag Adoption Rate “Trending in Right Direction” in Canada

AgvisorPro CEO (and Precision Farming Dealer Summit 2023 presenter) Robert Saik shares this chart from Tomas Nilsson that shows the latest precision ag adoption trends in Canada. More than half of all farms in Canada use auto-steer and soil sample testing, according to the survey. “The trends are definitely in the right direction,” Saik points out.


Sabanto Teams Up with US Space Force

More big moves from Sabanto as the company delivered 2 autonomous tractors to Patrick Space Force Base to support the service’s ground maintenance efforts. This isn’t’ the first item Sabanto has served the country with its technology. During our Day in the Cab visit, VP of Product Cory Spaetti detailed how Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County, Ill., recruited them to autonomously mow their fields.

Autonomy in Action: AMOS Power

AMOS Power’s fully electric autonomous tractor was put to the test on near frozen ground in Iowa. CEO and Founder Tom Boe posted this video of the tractor in action, holding its own in the mud after over an inch of rainfall hit the area. Our editors caught up with Boe at FIRA 2022 for a closer look at the tractor.


Fendt Showcases Hydrogen Tractor in Germany

Fendt presented the prototype of a hydrogen tractor for the first time at the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy Summit. Together with other partners, Fendt is participating in the H2Agrar agricultural model project in Lower Saxony to research a hydrogen infrastructure for agricultural use.
