Nathan Faleide asks ChatGPT, “What are 10 things the AgTech industry hasn’t perfected or answered yet?” Faleide breaks down the answers (with some epic memes as always) in this latest edition of the Easy Observations newsletter.
Autonomous Flex-Ro Robot Hits the Field in Nebraska
Santosh Pitla shows us the Flex-Ro robot in action for the first time. The associate professor of Machine Automation & Agricultural Robotics (MAARS) at the University of Nebraska is leading a team of plant scientists and biological systems engineers in the development of the autonomous machine. It’s a smaller sized tractor that has a variety of sensors to measure closer to ground level to take phenotyping measurements.

Deere’s Precision Vision Hinges on Space-Based Connectivity
CNBC’s Morgan Brennan analyzes the intersection of space and agriculture for John Deere, and the crucial role it plays in the company’s plans for precision technology. “If you think of agriculture…it’s done in rural locations, where terrestrial cell connectivity is not always available, and when it is, it’s not always sufficient to do the types of things that farmers need to have done in the field,” says Jahmy Hindman, chief technology officer of Deere. “We think satellite communications is a really intriguing, interesting technology to pursue to sort of solve that communications gap.”
