When is the Market Going to Turn?
The good times can’t last forever. As an ag equipment dealer, you and the farmers you serve know that better than anyone. As inventory levels recover, every dealer wants to avoid equipment sitting on their lot. Especially pieces that’ve been appraised for months and need to go before their value takes a sudden drop. In this article Edward Pronley, Marketing Content Manager for Randall Reilly, shares some insights.
Solving “The Missing Middle” Problem of Ag Data
According to the World Bank, the average farm will produce 4.1 million data points per day by 2050, writes Shashi Raghunandan, CEO of Oaken. But the problem of “the missing middle” needs to be solved to fully cash in on the potential value of data, Raghunandan concludes in this Forbes article. “There is data generation and storage infrastructure in place; however, it has a missing middle between that infrastructure and its decision makers. That missing middle needs to be filled by data analysts/scientists, data brokers, data infrastructure companies, data monetization companies and technology companies that tie all this together. And all of this has to be powered by better connectivity.

Why Business is Booming in the Retrofit Market
Here’s a Wall Street Journal article that our boss Frank Lessiter, Lessiter Media founder and No-Till Farmer editor, shared with us during this week’s editorial meeting. It explores why more companies like Deere and AGCO are prioritizing the retrofit market. It requires a free subscription to read, but here’s a key excerpt. “While rising crop prices in recent years put more money in farmers’ wallets for new equipment models, just 7% of farmers globally replace their equipment in a given year. That leaves 93% of farmers using older models as potential customers for upgrades, according to AGCO. The company estimates that current industrywide spending in its retrofit markets is $150 billion a year.”
