Eleven teams from across the U.S. and Canada have entered the competition to design unmanned planters, controlled remotely with highly sophisticated communication abilities.

Growers wanting to learn more about planter technology, variable rate seeding and data management can do so during the Northwest Ohio Precision Agriculture Day Aug. 6, offered by experts with Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

As farmers move to new crop-production practices, such as narrow rows and higher plant populations, or look for ways to increase planter capabilities, manufacturers are working to address these trends with the latest in planter technology.
