Precision farming is a bit of a dichotomy between theory and practice for Alexander Young, who farms 4,000 acres of corn, wheat and double cropped soybeans with his father, John, near Herndon, Ky.

The OSU Extension Office in Fulton County will be holding its 3rd Annual Northwest Ohio Precision Agriculture Technology Day on Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in Wauseon.

A used combine was sold to the customer that had a 2600 display. The customer wanted to use his brown box mobile processor in the combine instead. Phil Moskal, integrated solutions manager with Mid-State Equipment, explains that it's become a lot easier to adapt older technology or equipment to work together.

Mixing red, green and blue equipment in a precision farming system can create a rainbow of headaches, but Jamie Shenk, operations manager at Beauregard Farms, thinks he has found a good pain reliever: an independent precision farming supplier.
