AGCO's AgCommand API (Application Programming Interface) is now open to approved third party developers and service providers of farming applications, such as management dashboards and mobile apps. This new capability will enable AGCO customers to access their machine data through their other farm and fleet management tools.
The AgCommand API offers more points of access to end users, allowing some elements of AgCommand machine data to be integrated into the grower’s farm management platform of choice. As a part of Fuse, AGCO’s approach to precision agriculture through technology products and services, the AgCommand API is one way in which AGCO is taking an open approach, facilitating connections between customers and their other trusted providers.
Developers of Farm Management Information Systems (FMIS) and other farm fleet and asset management dashboards, including web and mobile applications, will find that AgCommand data provides insights and facilitates better decision making based on actionable information by combining machine data such as fuel usage, engine RPM and other useful performance data with agronomic and logistical data.
The first utilization of the AgCommand API was announced in late July with the integration between AGCO’s AgCommand system and the Trimble Connected Farm solution. This collaboration allows customers to access their AGCO machine data via AgCommand, in addition to their agronomic data through the VarioDoc connection, from within Trimble’s Connected Farm dashboard. This integration gives customers the ability to access both machine and task data within a single, Web browser-based user interface, allowing for a more streamlined approach to total farm management.
“The AgCommand API is a game changer. Giving customers the ability to access their machine data delivered by AgCommand through their preferred platform will save those customers time and money,” said Mike Rider, Director, Global IT Off-board Telematics at AGCO. “AGCO’s goal in adding this capability is to make it as easy as possible for growers to harness the power of their farm data, and leverage industry partners to help them streamline and increase efficiency on the farm. The AgCommand API does just this.”
